Sam Russo

Senior Partner specialising in Commercial and Industrial - Principal - LREA - JP

Sam's family moved to Dural in 1957. He attended Oakhill College for a short stay before leaving to work on the family farm with Tom Newman at the Uralla Road Chicken Feed business. Times were tough and the family needed every support available.

Commencing his real estate career in 1967 as a nineteen year old with R B Twivey & Co at Round Corner he went onto opening his own business, Guardian Real Estate, in 1970 operating out of a small office adjoining the Burning Log, now The Madison while building Guardian House in 1971, which was the first modern building in Round Corner.

With a career spanning 50 years he has been involved in many developments - commercial, residential and rural both locally and further afield. These include many land subdivisions mostly in 'The Hills' and also at Queanbeyan where he developed 3000 acres.

In the 1970's he formed Round Corner Holdings with three other shareholders and built Dural Mall, Knightsbridge Shopping Centre and The Village Green on Kenthurst Road.

On the old family farm in New Line Road, Sam built 'Hungry Jacks' and 'The Car Wash'. He has also completed industrial developments in North Sydney, Alexandria and Ultimo; as well as an industrial development in Dural known as 'Q North' and many more including residential developments in Galston...

Sam Russo has always been a member of the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales (REINSW) serving as past President of the Northern District Chapter and on the Disciplinary Tribunal over many years.

Locally, Sam is a past President of Dural Rotary and spent just over a decade as President of the Round Corner Chamber of Commerce.

The Woolworth's sites at Round Corner and Wrights Road Kellyville were negotiated by Sam.

Within the LJ Hooker network, Sam was honoured as Franchisee of the Year and won the prestigious Sir Leslie Hooker Award (2006), served on the Franchisee Council as Chairman and on the Board of LJ Hooker Corporate as a Director.

Overseas experience includes five years in Macau and Hong Kong as the Deputy Managing Director in the company responsible for the establishment of the Racing Club in Macau inclusive of not only building the track but the supply of horses and everything else associated with the launch of the Project.

Still in a business partnership at LJ Hooker Dural, with both Neil Keene and Peter Colusso - Sam's experience of years is held in high regard both within and out of the industry.

Along with Office Manager, Jan Heald, who has been an important part of the company for 36 years and his partners - the wealth of accumulated experience is second to none in Dural.
